Today’s verse of the day is by my cousin and fellow lyricist/producer Lagbara. After a few years of focusing on just producing, Lagbara is back in the booth working on projects. He took the time to jump on this song “Contagious” with TrueBless and I from my latest album.
I’m looking to the future / we building now / another black man in Georgia / murdered by the state / in the face of oppression / he doubled his faith / I’m doubling mine / looking for some inner inspiration / cause these fuckers are racist / guilty allocations / death row placements / loading them nine’s / cock back in the studio / loading them rhymes / its just a matter of time before God defeats the devil / trapped in a whirlwind where the issues never settle / occupying the street / at the feet of the beast / born in the struggle / built in the streets / its contagious / corporations out for the greed / low wages so a nigger forced to rob and thieve / we need the power of the people / to stop the hunger / a two party system that continues to fumble / its a rumble / of backward thoughts, progressive ideas / peace to the soldiers locked up for years / its contagious / corporations out for the greed / gotta work two jobs / provide for the seeds / single mothers cant find the help that she need / forced to rely on the system / subject her creed …

I decided to post up the entire new album for preview. Enjoy! Drops February 2012. I appreciate the support. Many thanks to Lagbara, Marques, TrueBless, Kats, Silent War and JonBlaq for the assist.
I decided to release a few tracks and beats that never made the cut for one of my official projects over the past couple years. Check em out on this EP, download link below.. Featuring guest production by Lagbara on “Rain & Clouds.”
A Tree Grows is a song that I have been slowly crafting for the past few months – probably the longest I have spent on one joint. When I began writing it, the goal was a song with hooks but I couldnt find a good stopping point between verses so it turned into one long work. After getting the verse finished, I couldnt find/make the “perfect” beat for it…me raising the bar on me I guess. So I decided to record multiple versions, using some beats from my favorite producers as well as my own. Pick your favorite.. peace.
Shouts to all of the producers who rocked with me on this one!
Outside of releasing free EPs over the past few years, I also dropped a handful of single tracks as well as beats. Instead of having these scattered on my Bandcamp site I grouped them all together under one “release” to make it easier to download them all. Thanks for listening.
