SOGANIC MUSIC WILL RELEASE SCHOLARMAN’S NEW ALBUM, “EXISTANCE” THIS JANUARY 2011.

(Bowie, MD) November 1, 2010 – Soganic Music will be releasing ScholarMan’s new album “ExiSTANCE” this January, 2011. The new album will be available in all major digital outlets and in select retail stores. “ExiSTANCE” is the follow up to ScholarMan’s 2010 release “Free Spirit of a Troubled Soul” that was released this past January.

With a saturated market and much music for a listener to choose from these days, how does an artist exist within all? Some artists rely on gimmicks, smoke and mirrors, others simply follow whatever seems to be working for other artists in the industry.

What happened to the authenticity, inspiration and innovation in our music – the soul of our music? Whatever the case may be, ScholarMan continues his movement of refreshing and inventive hip-hop with new album “ExiSTANCE.” The new album features 14 tracks, all produced by ScholarMan featuring the lyrical talents of TrueBless, Kahli Abdu, Silent War and vocals from Anonamas.

The concept behind the album according to ScholarMan is “doing more than just living but existing – leaving your mark, taking a stance for something.” As with his previous releases, ScholarMan calls this another stepping stone in his journey through hip-hop. He continues to build on his craft, adding another quality release to his catalog. On “ExiSTANCE,” ScholarMan invites you into his world again, where he gets a bit more personal by sharing a side of his soul that he hasn’t shown before.

Soganic Music is a Maryland based independent label that promotes and sponsors soulfully organic music, artists and events.

NEW SCHOLARMAN ALBUM “FREE SPIRIT OF A TROUBLED SOUL” COMING JANUARY 2010

Bowie, MD (Nov. 12, 2009) – Get your ears ready and make room on your MP3 players because come January 2010, Maryland emcee and producer ScholarMan will be dropping another great solo album to add to your hip-hop collection. Titled “Free Spirit of a Troubled Soul” or “FSTS” for short, ScholarMan’s new album represents the struggle of the everyday man who is striving to achieve more out of life despite the obstacles that cause many to give up.

Pressing forward toward your goals isn’t easy; sometimes the trials we face can cause us to lose direction. But those who still find room to hope, dream and strive to meet their goals throughout the troubles are those who prosper. Determination isn’t anything new for ScholarMan. Those who have followed his work should be able to see that he is passionate about his music and growth. In the past three years he has provided several projects including a handful of albums, EPs and other free music found online. Accompanying these projects are also a few music videos, including a couple that have been aired on television.

Showing no signs of slowing down, ScholarMan is one of the most consistent artists in the game. Even more important than his consistency, is his growth. Many artists tend to get comfortable or complacent with their craft. Over time they allow themselves to go downhill creatively instead of taking their talent to new plains. ScholarMan is a true example of an artist who gets better with every release.

In 2007 with his album Candy Medicine he felt the hip-hop community was sick of the same type of artists and sound, so he provided us with some ear medicine. In 2008 he told us what his purpose in life and in hip-hop was with Soul Purpose. Then at a pivotal mark in political history in 2009, he presented us with GameShift: The Movement.

So as his movement continues, prepare for his new album “Free Spirit of a Troubled Soul” – soulful hip-hop filled with the joys and pains of growth, improvement, expansion all in the midst of adversity and tribulations. If this sounds appealing, this is the album for you. Album features K-Mynez and Teisha Marie.

SCHOLARMAN DROPS NEW ALBUM “GAMESHIFT: THE MOVEMENT” JANUARY 2009

Bowie, MD (Nov. 3, 2008) – Maryland emcee and producer ScholarMan is geared up to release what is technically his fifth studio album GameShift: The Movement. To some, this number of projects may come as a surprise, but ScholarMan has previously dropped other releases under former name “Scholar.” He re-introduced himself in January of 2007 with his new modified name and sound with the release of “Candy Medicine” and again in 2008 with “Soul Purpose.”

Both of these albums were well-received by a good number in the hip-hop community; many who wanted to hear more, and he answers with a new and even more innovative album GameShift: The Movement. According to ScholarMan, the concept of his new album is simple: positive, forward movement. Everything is shifting, changing; from hip-hop, politics, the economy and more. On this album he is encouraging listeners to join him in the effort to shift the “game” in a more positive direction.

ScholarMan states, “The game can be whatever cause you are fighting for; whether positive social change, justice, equality, peace or improvement of hip-hop. I believe things can be just that simple, but many continue to make the world more complex than what it needs to be. I believe our journey’s can be more positive if it we strive to make it as such. My music is my personal soundtrack to a life with a purpose, and I strive daily to achieve that purpose. Through mistakes we learn and grow; I believe we all can grow together.”

Solely produced by ScholarMan, GameShift: The Movement features new ground-breaking and thought-provoking material; with guess appearances from fellow label mates K-Mynez and TrueBless. The first two singles “The Answer II” and “What You Puttin’ Back” featuring K-Mynez have already been released via music videos online. The new enhanced album will be released through ScholarMan’s imprint Soganic Music this coming January 2009.

A full preview of the album will be made available for one month beginning December 1, 2008 on ScholarMan’s website. For more information, booking, interviews, advanced press copies of the album please contact:

SCHOLARMAN DROPS SOUL PURPOSE, FIRST ALBUM ON NEW LABEL

Bowie, MD (Dec 6, 2007) – It is a joyous occasion for ScholarMan and for his supporters alike. After releasing Candy Medicine earlier this year, producing label mate TrueBless’ Mission ISpossible, and releasing various articles and reviews through his official site as well as at HipHopLinguistics.com, ScholarMan has been able to not only create a new album, but balance the efforts in transitioning his former record label Else Where? Entertainment into the new SoGanic Music.

Due to legal ramifications, Else Where? Entertainment is no more. Taking the torch and moving on is Soganic Music, a newly formed independent record label with the same vision and the same great hip-hop music that many experienced before. Soganic is a combination of “soulful” and “organic;” the slogan being “Soulfully Organic,” music that reaches deep into the root of its listener thus watering the soul, so that a better world can blossom. Supporters of previous Else Where? Entertainment projects are guaranteed to enjoy future products under the new label beginning in 2008!

As for ScholarMan’s latest, Soul Purpose, what better way to describe this album than to simply quote a couple paragraphs from a recent ScholarMan article titled What’s Your Purpose?, one of the inspirations for the album:
No matter what faith you follow, every person’s existence is because of a greater purpose assigned to that individual. For some people their purpose may be small, to others extremely large, regardless we were born to do something positive to contribute to the great mass of energy this world generates. As a writer, I contribute ideas on paper, as an emcee I contribute my life experiences through music and as a producer I contribute various emotions through rhythm. What is your purpose?

Since hip-hop runs through my veins just as naturally as the blood that keeps me alive, it is only correct to use the state of hip-hop to describe my point. Point being, many people who represent this culture are doing so in vain. Many artists are degrading not only themselves, but also their heritage as well as the art form with much of the music presented. Over the past twenty years, the hip-hop I love has drastically declined where one could feel alienated by simply listening to the radio today.

Soul Purpose according to ScholarMan is “simply good hip-hop music that encourages people to define their purpose and work towards the necessary goals that flow parallel with this process.” With the underground success of Candy Medicine, ScholarMan wanted to ensure that his message on Soul Purpose is just as clear as the releases before it but with an improved sound and overall album structure. “Many artists get complacent with their craft, that’s not my style. I will always give you 100% of me but with improvements, and more innovation with every album,” ScholarMan states.

Soulful beats, intelligent lyrics, this is destined to be another classic to add to your collection. Look for Soul Purpose sometime in January of 2008 released on Soganic Music/ScholarMan Music featuring over 10 self-produced tracks and an appearance by label mate TrueBless. SCHOLARMAN OF ELSE WHERE? ENTERTAINMENT SET TO DROP “CANDY MEDICINE”

Bowie, MD – October 27, 2006 – Many of us are able to remember those days as a youngster when that dreadful wintertime cold came over us. We would come in from school or from playing outside with a red nose, itching eyes, drippy nose hoping that mom will be able to work her magic and heal the aches and pains. Many mothers were able to take one look at our face and know exactly what medicine to grab, and knew precisely how to give you the medicine. For those who hated taking medicine, there was a technique that is still used widely today called “putting the medicine in the candy,” as a result disguising the medicine inside of a treat, a method that grew to be very effective; paving the way for many medicine products today that taste, feel and look like typical candy from the corner store.

The hip-hop industry is sick ladies and gentlemen, every time you turn on your radio it’s like stepping outside in 30 degree weather without a winter a coat, the end result being a virus that gets into your soul and marinates until you get one thing – Candy Medicine. The concept is simple, medicine that is not apparent, but instead transparently working its way into your system inside of candy that you are used to.

Let’s face it; listening to mainstream hip-hop today can be a sickening experience for some and its time for the hip-hop community to heal. What happened to hip-hop music with soul, with heart? What happened to hip-hop music that didn’t glorify material wealth but instead hip-hop music that focused on keeping the culture alive? This type of music still exists, from your Common’s, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Dead Prez, Kanye West, Little Brother, but the top 40 virus has it in its control, and only releases like Candy Medicine can free it.

Candy Medicine is the latest effort from revolutionary emcee and producer ScholarMan, previously known as Scholar. Scholar is now legally ScholarMan, separating himself from the many Scholar’s in the music industry, not only by name but by sound as well. Candy Medicine consists of 12 tracks, solely produced and written by Scholar with one goal in mind – to heal. How does it heal? Through tunes you can nod your head to, and gain something from, real hip-hop. On this album ScholarMan explains his view on what real hip-hop is, and it’s worth a listen. From pounding beats, inspirational lyrics and an underlying message on every track, ScholarMan sets himself apart with every track.

This holiday season; pick up “Candy Medicine” if you enjoy classic hip-hop music with a message. “Candy Medicine” is coming soon to CD Baby, iTunes, eBay, and other retail chains. Please contact the Else Where? Music Group for discounted wholesale orders at:

ELSE WHERE? ENTERTAINMENT SET TO RELEASE SCHOLAR IN “THE X FILES”

Bowie, MD – June 1, 2006 – As the international movement continues in pursuit for freedom, and equality for the masses, a new breed of politically inspired hip-hop continues to spread in 2006 – a breed of revolutionary hip-hop. Hip-hop dedicated to one thing – social change. At the frontline of this movement musically are many talented artists, mostly considered “underground” or “non-mainstream,” but there is one artist determined to take his message above and beyond borders – his name is Scholar.

To follow up the classic group effort “The Love Freedom Movement,” that was released earlier this year with label mate TrueBLESS, Scholar presents to you now “The X Files” – another unforgettable mixtape containing 14 hot tracks that should leave you in a state of self-determination after listening. Scholar paints an exquisite portrait of the current state of the world and how it can improve using exceptional lyrics as his brushes and innovative beats as his paint. In the end the album is none the less a masterpiece, which should get regular rotation in your CD decks if you love classic hip-hop music with a message.

With the exception of three of the tracks on “The X Files” – Scholar produces the bulk of the album, creating a unique style of production that can be compared to the likes of Pete Rock, 9th Wonder and the late Jay Dilla. The inspiration is clear within the production, to respect the old but keep with the new without losing sight of what’s important, “good head-nod music.” From heavy drums to crisp snares in conjunction with smooth bass-lines and sample chops, Scholar’s songs flow with consistency like waves during a calm night at sea.

Lyrically, Scholar’s motivation is to be “blunt” with his listeners, speaking on various topics that include the United States government, poverty, racial discrimination, violence and how minorities are “alienated” – thus the main reason for the title “The X Files.” Scholar incorporates the efforts of the late great Malcolm X in the tile of the CD as well, using the deceased leader as an inspiring factor to push listeners to get up, get out and do something (not to mention the design of the CD cover). As he simply put it, “…let’s re-open the file where Brother X left off..,” on the intro track “Freedom.” Other break-out tracks include “How Many Times,” Right Now” and “Demand And Take.”

“The X Files” should be at the top of your list if you enjoy soulful hip-hop with a message. “The X Files” is coming soon to CD Baby, iTunes, Tower Records, and other retail chains. Please contact the Else Where? Music Group for wholesale orders at:
